How we work and FAQ

Treatments that work with you

We believe no body is built the same and we honour that in how we work with you!

Through a lifetime, the body goes through a lot: growth spurts in childhood and adolescence, physical fatigue and aches, sports injuries, ageing tissues. Muscles can develop and evolve at different rates and get out of balance at any given age. Over time, these ‘imbalances’ can lead to chronic pain and sometimes be the catalyst to more acute injuries.

Mid North Coast Allied Health focuses on the specificity of your body by assessing how your history and external factors may contribute to your current wellbeing. In doing so we can better connect the dots, diagnose the source of your pain and effectively treat your specific condition so that you live to the best of your ability.

Do I Need A Doctors Referral To See A Physio?

No. Physiotherapists are considered primary healthcare providers so you are able to book directly with us without a referral. However, please inform us of your doctor’s details if you want us to keep them informed of your treatment and progress.

What If I Have A Workers Compensation Claim Or Motor Accident Claim?

It is important that you have a referral from your doctor if you have a 3rd party claim through an insurance company for Workcover or CTP motor accident claim. Also, you will need to provide a claim number, insurance company name and contact details for your case manager so we are able to bill directly to the insurance company and ensure your rehab is a simple and straightforward process for you.

How Long Does An Appointment Go For?

Our appointments usually last for 30-60mins depending on the healthcare professional you are visiting. This is to ensure a comprehensive assessment and treatment session can be completed.

How Do I Pay For My Treatment Session?

Insurance claims are billed directly to the insurer provided all necessary claim numbers and information is provided to us.

Private patients need to settle their accounts at the end of each treatment session through either cash, cheque or EFTPOS.

Will My Private Health Fund Pay A Rebate For My Treatment?

Yes, most of our services including physio, exercise physiology, massage, OT and dietetics are usually covered under extras cover for most health funds. You need to bring your health fund card with you to the consult as we use the HICAPS system to arrange direct funds transfer of your rebate – you then only need to cover the gap.

What Do I Need To Bring To My First Session?

It is best to bring any x-rays and scan results that you may already have had taken to give your physio as much information as possible. You should also wear appropriate clothing to allow the physio to access the injured body area for assessment and treatment.

Do You Prescribe Orthotics/Custom-Made Insoles?

Yes. Our clinic uses state of the art computerised scanning technology called “GaitScan” to assess foot function and order individual custom made orthotics – excellent for relieving  problems like achilles tendon injuries, plantar fasciitis, shin pain, knee injuries and lower back trouble.

How Many Sessions Will I Need To Get Better?

In your initial assessment your therapist will give you a “Recommended Action Plan” which will outline your treatment program and how many sessions we estimate to get you back to full health. Your progress will be regularly checked throughout this period to ensure excellent progress is being made at all times.

What If I Want A Massage?

You do not need to see the physiotherapists to have treatment by our skilled massage therapist – to make appointment simply contact our friendly admin team.  However, we regularly recommend our physio clients have follow-up massage treatment to help with maintenance after recover from specific injuries.
