Meet the team

Prue Nisbett

Occupational Therapist

I grew up in Sydney and after several years working in the corporate sector, I pursued my passion for helping others and completed a Masters of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney in 2018. Since completing my studies, I have gained experience working in both the community and clinical settings with clients with a range of conditions including acquired and traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, intellectual disability and various neurological conditions.

Originally from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, I moved to beautiful Port Macquarie in 2022 in search of a relaxed beachside lifestyle for our growing young family – we feel so blessed to have found such a beautiful community to be a part of on the Mid North Coast and raise our two boys here.

Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors in nature with my family. The beach is my happy place and you will most often find me by the ocean, swimming and playing in the sand with my family.

What do you love most about your job/industry?

I enjoy the diversity and individualised approach of what Occupational Therapy can offer clients, whether it be solutions of assistive technology, skill building, adapting ways to complete tasks, or finding solutions to maintain or improve independent living skills, no client or day is ever the same. I find it no greater privilege than being able to hear other people’s stories and learn about them and their lives as part of the therapeutic process.

Areas of interest?

I am passionate about helping clients achieve their goals no matter the challenges that may be present for my client – whether it be learning new life skills or finding ways to overcome challenges and difficulties, I love working collaboratively with clients to assist them with what they want and need to do in their lives. I am particularly interested in neurological conditions, recovery after stroke, traumatic brain injury and intellectual disability.

Your top tip

“If there’s a will, there’s a way” – Something you are passionate about, something you want to do, need to do or keep doing in life – we can work together to make this happen, whatever this looks like for you.

My undergraduate degree was in Accounting and Economics and I used to write tax advice for a living.
