Remedial Massage Therapist
Michael was born in England before moving to Australia in 2010. He worked for about a decade in disabilities and mental health, before following a passion to study Remedial Massage Therapy. This study was supported through selection for a Destination NSW Scholarship in 2020. Michael used to compete in World championship Downhill skateboarding, until a severe spinal injury in 2011. This trauma has provided him with personal experience of chronic back pain, while also highlighting how amazing the body can be with recovery. In his spare time, Michael practices Kungfu, which helps keeps him strong and motivated.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping people achieve their goals. When people come in and say, “that thing you did helped me so much! Thank you!”
Areas of interest?
As a remedial massage therapist, anything musculoskeletal interests me. I love anatomy! I approach each person as a ‘whole’ rather than just an isolated symptom.
Your top tip
Hydration! Muscles need water too!
People would be surprised if they knew…
Just how many muscles can be involved in the simple act of breathing!
