Meet the team

Anne Peters

Exercise Physiologist

Anne grew up in Orange and is a country NSW girl at heart. In a previous life, she was a ballerina with the Queensland Ballet, touring nationally and internationally.

After a career-ending lower back injury, Anne discovered the world of rehabilitation and developed a deep appreciation for the clinicians and support teams who help both athletes and everyday people move better and live fuller lives.

She went on to study Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Queensland, completing an Honours degree in Exercise Oncology. During this time, Anne helped lead the integration of exercise oncology as a standard part of cancer care across Southeast Queensland. One highlight of this work was contributing to a new private hospital development that included a dedicated exercise therapy facility within its oncology ward.

In 2023, Anne and her family moved to the Mid North Coast, where she now loves raising her young children as little beach babes.

Then:

1. What do you love most about your job/industry?

a. I love the powerful impact that exercise and quality movement can have on someone’s life. Many people are referred to an Exercise Physiologist after injury, worsening pain, or a new diagnosis – times when they often feel a loss of control. What I love about Exercise Physiology is how it combines science, anatomy, physiology, and exercise therapy to empower people to regain confidence and take control of their health.

2. Areas of interest?

a. Oncology is an area that is deeply personal to me. While studying exercise oncology research at university, it became clear that exercise truly is medicine during cancer treatment and recovery, it shouldn’t be seen as an optional extra. Bringing this exciting research into real-world practice is something I find incredibly rewarding.
I also love sharing my passion for exercise physiology with university students and medical practitioners. By helping others understand the value of exercise physiology I hope we can play a small part in changing the future of healthcare in Australia.

3. Your top tip

a. Always intervene when you see a toddler walking purposefully with a step ladder!
And, it’s never too late to start moving. Our bodies are incredible 🙂

4. People would be surprised if they knew…

a. I finished my traditional schooling after Year 8. My education took a somewhat unconventional path as I balanced education with ballet. I found my way to university when the time was right.
