Meet the team

Siobhan Coghlan

Exercise Physiologist

I moved to Port when I was 8, so I have basically grown up here. I love that I live so close to amazing beaches, and can enjoy a swim whenever I feel like it! I grew up racing motocross at a State and National level, and started to train at a gym when I was 15, so I have always been interested in, and enjoyed fitness. I stopped racing motocross when I started university, and found a new passion for Crossfit, and this is now my “thing”. I studied my two degrees through Charles Sturt University – Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology.

What do you love most about your job/industry?

I love helping clients improve their relationship with exercise and movement, and helping them to understand that their condition/illness or injury can be managed and supported with help from an Exercise Physiologist. As this industry that I am so fortunate to work within, research and guidelines are always evolving, and so there is always something interesting for me to read about, or follow up on, as a refresher. I am always learning, and this is something I find really cool!

Areas of interest?

Mental Health, Sporting injuries, Pilates, Strength and Resistance training, chronic disease management.

Your top tip

If you don’t move it, you’ll lose it…

People would be surprised if they knew…

I LOVE reading books, especially about medical stories and experiences written by Doctor’s, Nurses, and even funeral home directors! I have read books about what it was like working in a funeral home in the 70s, a Doctor’s chronicles of his time as a student and the 20 years following, and first-hand stories about the ER department of a hospital and all the crazy things Nurses and Doctors see and deal with!
