Holly Mitchell

Myotherapist

After running her own successful business in Geelong, Holly recently moved with her family to the Coffs Coast. After returning from living overseas in 2005, it had been the “5 year plan” to the northern beaches but a couple of kids and career paths saw her and her husband happily settled in Geelong.

Holly has worked in the massage/myotherapy realm now for the past 20+ years, seeing a wide range of clientele, ranging from studying teenagers with postural overload, pregnant mums, athletes (and weekend warriors), tradies and office elite, all the way to her favourite golden oldies. We guess you could call her a family practitioner!

She has loved supporting long term clients, watching the progression of their families where teenagers become adults, then parents, and now her clients are showing her photos of the grandbabies.

Holly is looking forward to meeting new clients and helping you find ease in your bodies so that you can continue to enjoy all that life has to offer!

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to help people feel better. It’s a combination of discomfort and pleasure but the end goal of regaining movement and being pain-free is always worth it. I enjoy helping people understand the disfunction they are experiencing so that they can see the benefits of self-help protocols and the treatment strategies we put in place.

Area of interest

I love the way the body functions holistically, the way it will compensate to keep us moving, sending out little cries for help and then eventually says “that’s enough, now I will make you listen!”. Helping people to hear these messages earlier is a keen interest of mine however from a treatment aspect I love to offload the neck shoulder girdle and work with TMJ dysfunction.

Your top tip

Hydration, hydration, hydration! Before treatment, after treatment, in everyday life. I think as “grown-ups” we don’t drink enough of good old fashioned water.

People would be surprised if they knew…

Funny 80’s facts on me…I was both a BMX bandit racing in a shiny pink suit all over Victoria and in Grade 6, I was in the Tasmanian performing Jump Rope For Heart team that was on a Saturday morning kids TV programme!
